Essay --

The concept of masculinity has varied with time and place. In the West, the diversion between man and woman is thin line. On the contrary, considering the case of India the difference is wide. The crisis of masculinity is crawling into the society. In ancient times masculinity was Cicero said, "Viri autem propria maxime est fortitudo." Wrote in Tusculanae Quaestiones, (the Tusculan Disputations) series of books written by Cicero – In translation, Cicero states: "a man's chief quality is courage." In modern times, the stereotypical thought has changed. Man considered being the breadwinner and woman as house-maker has taken another shape. Liberalization leads to development in the society. The restrictions among the female section have minimized. Now woman has more liberty to express thoughts and live independently. Family boundaries have broken. Liberalization and globalization – From 1991 started the period of liberalization and globalization which refers to ongoing economic reforms. Globalization established growing number of global corporation in India. Consequently, the economic growth and reforms increased market efficiency. As a result new avenues for employment opened in the market. In the period of early 1990’s companies like General Electric, British Airways and American Express relocated their operation back in India. From the 19th century there has been two categories- participation of women and widows as labor force and upper class women in high status profession. ‘Man is powerful’ has been a clichà © as because women were always considered inferior to the status of man. The reluctant of male dominated domain to acknowledge the reality that woman were as good as men with respect to hard work, intelligence and le... ...vernor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva, told the media that the political parties are not to named but the male parliamentarians within the various party are not keen on passing the Women’s reservation bill. Ms. Alva said this in an informal interaction with journalists at the Raj Bhavan on the occasion of International Women’s Day. She also added that male parliamentarians are reluctant to leave their chairs. This is the reason for not passing the bill. (Hindu, 2014) Decision of this sort illustrates the fear of crisis of masculinity. For a man holding a position is a matter of respect. If the same is expected to share with woman the ego of man hurts. Crisis is defined. Holding position is not only restricted to sharing it with woman who are considered lower compared to the level of men. Man ego clashes with man also when comes to holding a rank/position.

The Economic and Political Motives of the American Constitution vs. the

The Economic and Political Motives of the American Constitution vs. the Articles of Confederation Introduction The Constitution of the United States of America is often revered and thought of as the basis for all democracies around the world. However, when it is used as an example of the perfect democracy, the facts and history behind its creation are often left out. While it is a fascinating document, it is not the pinnacle of perfection that we often hold it up to be. It had a stumbling start, full of problems and arguments, instead of the immaculate conception that is often described. Its beginnings were much humbler, and they started with the Articles of Confederation. It is somewhat strange that the American people know so little of the fundamental nature of their system of government. Their acquaintance with it extends only to its outward form and rarely includes a knowledge of the political philosophy upon which it rests. The sources of information upon which the average man relies do not furnish the data for a correct understanding of the Constitution. (Smith, Allen, 1965: 30) What I propose to show is that the Constitution of the United States is not necessarily the best form of government for the United States, but that a reworking of the Articles of Confederation would have been sufficient. The motives I would like to call into question are those of the Framers of the Constitution, but also those of the Framers of the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation are often historically overlooked, but they play a major role in the creation of the Constitution. By examining the creation of the Articles of Confederation and its demise, I hope to shed some light on why the Constitution was created an... ...an Company, 1936. Bourgin, Frank. Potential Community Health HESI Topic Areas These are some additional areas you may want to considering being familiar with: Ancathosis nigricans A skin condition characterized by dark, thick, velvety skin in body folds and creases. Most often, acanthosis nigricans affects your armpits, groin and neck. There's no specific treatment for acanthosis nigricans † but treating any underlying conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, may cause the changes in your skin changes to fade Characteristics of acanthosis nigricans include: Skin changes. Skin changes are the only signs of acanthosis nigricans. You'll notice dark, thick, velvety skin in body folds and creases † typically in your armpits, groin and neck. Sometimes the lips, palms or soles of the feet are affected as well. Slow progression. The skin changes appear slowly, sometimes over months or years. Possible itching. Rarely, the affected areas may itch. Acanthosis nigricans is often associated with conditions that increa se your insulin level, such as type 2 diabetes or being overweight. If your insulin level is too high, the extra insulin may trigger activity in your skin cells. This may cause the characteristic kin changes.Question pertained to nurse checking for lice and noticing dark patch of skin on neck. Advisor role Antepartum – risk factors Anthrax incubation and exposure Assess trends and patterns Assessing income Assessment – validation Assignments – home care; Make sure students know how to prioritize home health clients (i. e. which ones to see/call back first. ) When given the choice between a patient with COPD who is short of breath, a terminally ill pt who refuses to eat or drink, or a pt with congestive heart failure who has gained 3 lbs, choose the last one. Asthma triageBattering-communication If the question pertains to a nurse suspecting a female patient has been abused and the woman has her child in the room with her, the nurse should ask the child to leave the room and question the woman about the abuse. The question does not pe rtain to the child being abused. Breast cancer-risk (who is at greatest risk) Calculate rate – population COBRA-cost (client still has to pay for expenses) When the question asks what would be a concern for a person who has lost their Job but has COBRA, the answer is paying for health care/expenses.Communicable disease (pertussis) Community – assessment Community Assessment – TB Community data source Community education – evaluate Community resource – elderly Community resources-population age Community resources – rural Community strategies – mental deficiencies Cultural competence Cultural -lactose intolerant Cultural – Native American (Native Americans are at high risk for diabetes – have the highest rates, so the nurse needs to screen for and educate about this).Culturally sensitive teaching CV disease – African American Diabetes AIC If a nurse is working in a community with high rates of diabetes and implements a rogram, at the end of 1 year (or whatever evaluation period is stated) the nurse will want to evaluate hemoglobin A1 C levels to determine effectiveness of program.Disaster – Cholera (Priority for treating those with cholera: fluid and electrolytes) Disaster- Professional Disaster – red tag triage Disaster planning Disaster Preparedness – START Disaster triage – color system Elder abuse-Home setting Elder health – assessment Employee health Epidemiological triad host Epidemiological triad agent Fall in home Family assistance – ophthalmic meds Family ecomapFlu vaccine-priority Gatekeeper Genetic risk – assessment Geriatrics – home nutrition Geriatric syndrome – home health GTD-hCG values Health Promotion Program – Planning Heart healthy diet – limit Heat stroke If an adolescent is playing sports at school and goes to the school nu rse with red, dry skin and other symptoms of heat stroke, the first thing the nurse should do is call for emergency personnel (not assess). These things include referral to prena tal care, encouraging prenatal vitamins, etc.The nurse will NOT tell the parents and things like arranging childcare or teaching breastfeeding are not something the school nurse will be involved in. creening – DM – PEDI Screening priority Question regarding hypothyroidism and the nurse recognizes that mental dysfunction is a long-term consequence. What is screening priority? Answers included screening for T3 in preschoolers or children (? ), iodine screening in people over 60, TSH in women over 45, and T4 in newborns. The answer is T4 in newborns.Seat belt safety-adolescents Secondary prevention – tobacco Secondary prevention – children Sensitivity of tests Social organization Stakeholder If a community health nurse is going into a community to try to develop or implement n intervention, remember one of the key things he/she must do is form a relationship with someone who would be identified as the stakeholder. Stakeholders will be someone who is invested in the health of the community and will be invested in the program to be implemented. They will be vital in the nurse gaining access into the community, the success of the program, and ensuring the sustainability of the program. STD-Reporting If an adolescent goes to the health dept and is diagnosed with chlamydia, the nurse must report this. It is a reportable disease that is monitored by the state and the CDC, and the disease intervention specialist must be informed to do contact tracing.

Don’t Complain

Often heard people complain why my face is not beautiful, why the weather is so bad, why I live in such a poor family †¦ why should we complain about it? Just like what Maya Angelou said:†if you don't like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don't complain. † I remember I read an article about Helen Keller. The day she became blind and deaf she was only 18 months old! At the beginning she was really sad and very easy to get angry, but after a few weeks, she composed herself. She began to find her own path in life.Miss Sullivan began to teach Helen vocabularies and how to touch Braille; Helen had generated a great interest in knowledge. Ultimately, she was admitted to Harvard University with honors. She didn't complain what she doesn’t have; she changed her attitude towards life and became successful. Another example, Hawking was a British  theoretical physicist, and author. He was suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease and paralysis soon. After a few years, Hawking lost his ability of speaking also. Hawking was being detained in a wheelchair for 40 years; the disease has made his body completely deformed.Even so, Hawking has not given up, he was tenaciously survived. Despite his debilitating illness, he has done ground-breaking work in physics and cosmology and his several books strive to make science accessible to everyone. He didn't have the ability to change his adversity, but he kept a good attitude and he didn't complain; he became success. For those things that you can’t change, there is no need to complain, change your attitude might be a better option. You cannot change your appearances, why don’t you give it an indulgent smile; you cannot change the weather, why don’t you change your mood; attitude is everything!

Aruna in fasting and feasting Essay

2007 was the year in which I failed to finish the Indian novels I started. I read 2 and faltered at the 500 page mark in both. I found Vikram Chandra’s amalgam of literary fiction and crime in Sacred Games remarkably tedious. But my failure with Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Boy was downright weird. An absolute 5-star epic, I was enjoying it. Unfortunately I had listened to an abridged audio a few years before, so I knew where it was heading and I couldn’t motivate myself to read the extra 1000 pages I needed to reach the end. So 2008 heralds a change of tactic. For starters, a short novel by an Indian authoress. Desai was born and educated in India and has spent many years teaching in the States. Well placed, therefore, to write about the similarities and differences of both cultures and she does this with a text that is by turns witty, farcical, poignant and shocking. It’s quite a mix and one that kept the pages turning †¦.. right to the end! It could be argued that this novel is actually two novellas linked only by the character who moves from India to America. Each section is self-contained. Yet separating them would dilute the impact of the message that modern culture (be it Indian or American) is dissatisfying with gender inequality rife in both. In India, MamaPapa (so in tune with each other, they cannot be divided) are raising their two daughters and a son. Aruna is beautiful. Uma is clumsy and plain. But both must be married off. Aruna has her pick of suitors but finding a bridegroom for Uma is a desperate task and the squandering of two dowries is source of much entertaining farce. Flip the coin, however, and the farce becomes tragedy. A failure to marry means a life of humiliating servitude to parents and a life of spinsterly loneliness and suffocation. My heart aches for Uma but it bleeds for Anamika (Uma’s cousin), denied her Oxford scholarship and married off to a family who cared little for her.  She endures 25 years of servitude and married loneliness before †¦. well, you’ve heard the rumours of what happens when unloved wives grow old and a second dowry is required. Desai barbecues American family life as thoroughly as Mr Patton does his steaks. America, the land where freezers are full yet the food cannot be eaten because what would we eat in an emergency? Housewives wear t-shirts with born-to-shop slogans because that is all they are good for! Keep the cupboards full. We’ll help ourselves. The tv is king – forget spending time together and eating at the dinner table. Eating disorders are both cry for attention and rebellion against the profligate overconsumption of the West. Mrs Patton, as neglected as many as Indian bride. seeks to keep herself cheerful with the shopping and her sun-bathing. One day Arun comes home to find her bikini-clad and oiled-up ready for her day in the sun. She might have been on display in the Foodmart, a special offer for the summer, gleaming with invitation. Almost, one feels, one might see a discount sign above it. Surprising that Desai has painted this incident with so cruel a brush? Yet a major point of the novel is that daughters suffer most when their mothers unquestioningly comply with traditions or the lead of their men-folk. Actually not only daughters. Sons too. Arun is damaged by the excess of education and the weight of familial expectation. Seeking solitude and anonymity (the ultimate freedom) when he reaches America, his behaviour unconsciously mirrors that of his sister Uma, back at home. Just one of many echoes which Desai uses to tie her two stories together. Shortlisted for the 1999 Booker prize, Desai’s novel was, in effect, the runner-up. In a rare glimpse of the judging process, Gerald Kaufmann, the chair that year said, â€Å"If we could have a chosen a runner-up, we would undoubtedly have given the runner-up award to Anita Desai and Fasting, Feasting; a most beautiful novel, very moving, very funny, terribly  illustrative of what happens to women in different parts of the world.†

A Close Look at Bangladesh

The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, also known as Bangladesh, is one of the youngest nations historically. Established in 1971, the country has undergone various battles to win its independence, including those to fight for its religion and its language. At present, Bangladesh is one of the unfamiliar states in Asia, continuously fighting overpopulation, poverty, and political unrest (Whyte & Lin, 2009). Bangladesh is geographically situated in South Asia, bordered by Myanmar in the southeast and India in the north, west, and northeast. The most essential feature of the country is its â€Å"web of rivers† that molded its culture and lifestyle positively in terms of transportation and hydroelectric power and negatively with massive flooding (Whyte & Lin, 2009). The total area of Bangladesh is roughly 144,000 square kilometers, which is a bit smaller than Iowa. The estimate population of the country is 158 million, which makes it the seventh most populous in the world (CI A, n. d. ) I. GovernmentThe politics of Bangladesh has witnessed several changes with the shifting of the forms of government from parliamentary in 1972, to presidential in 1975, to martial law in 1981 and back to parliamentary in 1991 (Whyte & Lin, 2009). At present, the nation is ruled by the chief of state, President Zillur Rahman, and the head of government, Prime Minister Sheik Hasina Wajed. Members of the cabinet are handpicked by the prime minister and appointed by the president. The legislative branch is led by the unicameral National Parliament elected by the people. The Supreme Court is headed by chief justices and other judges appointed by the president (CIA, n. d. ). Ahmed (2004) further describes politics in Bangladesh as a constant chat topic in all parts of the country. He further likened Bangladeshi politicians to that of the country’s rivers – changing their courses unpredictably, overflowing their banks and submerging new lands. Moreover, the capital o f Bangladesh is Dhaka. It is further divided into seven administrative divisions, namely, Barisal, Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Syllhet (CIA, n.d. ). The nation as a developing country is characterized by corruption brought about by indecisiveness of politicians, politicization of the civil service, and nepotism among civil servants. According to the World Bank, should Bangladesh lessen corrupt practices in its government, it is possible that it will enjoy an improved economic status (Ahmed, 2004). II. Economy One of the poorest nations in the world – this is what typically defines the economy of Bangladesh. The nation relies primarily in agriculture, livestock, and forestry, with crop agriculture as the main contributor in the country’s GDP (Ahmed, 2004). Nonetheless, one-third of its population still lives below the poverty line (CIA, n. d. ). Because of this, Bangladesh relies heavily from foreign aid, which it uses to improve its agriculture and support efforts to advance society. One sector that is being developed to help Bangladeshi economy is energy, namely, gas, oil, and mineral explorations that currently attract foreign investors.Another element that keeps its economy afloat is foreign trade (Ahmed, 2004). It exports garments, frozen fish and seafood, jute and jute products, and leather to the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, among others (CIA, n. d. ). Moreover, export of labor also contributes highly to the economy with most Bangladeshi working overseas such as in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia (Ahmed, 2004). Still, unemployment needs to be prioritized as unemployment rate is at an estimated 2. 5 percent, which the nineteenth highest in the world. III. Religious PracticesReligion is a significant part of Bangladeshi society. In fact, religion is an important element of people’s self-identity. More than three-fourths of the population are Sunni Muslims, ten percent are Hindus and the others are Chri stians and Theravada-Hinayana Buddhists. The Constitution upholds Islam as the state religion but allows each citizen to practice his faith according to his choice. Furthermore, the government has established imam training academies and proclaimed Islamic days of festivals. Moreover, each religion has its own set of laws. For instance, Muslim men are allowed to marry up to four times but society discourages this practice; Christian men can marry just one woman; Hindus can practice unlimited polygamy; but marriages between members of different religions were unrestricted. In addition, important religious festivals and holy days of all religious groups are observed as national holidays (US Department of State, 2007) IV. Language The official language of Bangladesh is Bangla or Bengali, which is the native tongue of more than 98 percent of the population. However, many also speak English and Urdu. Bangla’s influences include Islam, Arabic, and English (Kwintessential, n. d. ) V. E ducational System Since a huge portion of the population experiences poverty, the educational system in Bangladesh is highly subsidized. Schooling is divided into primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels. Tertiary education is also provided in universities and affiliated colleges. In all levels, students can opt to be educated under Bangla or English medium (Prime Minister’s Office, n. d. ). VI. Norms and ValuesIn Bangladesh, age generally tells how one is addressed. If people are of the same age, first names are used but if the person being addressed is older, he is called by his first name and a suffix that indicates the family relationship. Moreover, gift-giving is important for Bangladeshis. For instance, bringing of pastries or sweets is encouraged in visiting a home; offering of frangipanis, white flowers, alcohol, products with non-halal meat, and even money are discouraged; opening gifts in front of the giver is likewise discouraged; and gift-giving should be d one with both hands. Moreover in eating, directly turning down an invitation is impolite; many eat with their hands so asking of utensils is rude; meals will be shared by the same sex; guests are served first; and the oldest person at the table eats first; passing of food and drinks is done with the right hand only. Furthermore in communication, Bangladeshis tend to communicate indirectly so their body language needs to be understood as well. Nonetheless, they stand close when speaking to someone of the same gender (Kwintessential, n. d. ). VII. ConclusionTo conclude, Bangladesh has come a long way from its establishment 40 years ago. Nonetheless, it has a lot to learn in terms of political stability and economic development. Still, the nation has reasons to be proud of such as its religion, language, and values that has established its identity as a free nation. References Ahmed, S. (2004). Bangladesh: Past and Present. Benefit Analysis in Project Management †Free Samples to Students

Allsports Sports Club is a place where many outdoor games like cricket, football and even athletics are conducted along with some indoor games like table tennis and others. The club is very much popular in the vicinity. There are many thousand members of the club who es to play these games on daily basis. A weekly newsletter is being released here on every Wednesday with articles on sports and few advertisement of outside business. The hitch is the release of this newsletter which is being supervised by Club President. The main objective of the report is to solve few technical and operational issues being faced by Club president on daily life to release the newsletter on timely basis. For which the owner has awarded us the contract to provide the solution. For the releasing of newsletter on every Wednesday, it is the duty of editor to collect and publish the articles based on the sports activities happened till last Saturday and moreover every week the editor need to change and every member need to be given equal opportunity of b ing the editor. But it remains the responsibility of Club president to see that all the members are getting equal chance. President is having only the word and spreadsheet as the software to manage the information related to many thousand members. President had to face many issues on daily basis to manage such big database. Few issues are listed below: So maintaining these information in spreadsheet needs vigorous and accurate filtering and maintain such dynamic information where every day the activities or the database need to be updated then only the next course of action can be finalised. So in such dynamic situation where daily there are ments and the whole system requirements changes accordingly the only methodology which fits in this situation is the Agile methodology of developing the system. The selected method that is Agile methodology for developing the information system of Allsports Sports Club is the best approach because it is a people centric project where every moment some ments need to be updated an again modify the system to generate the desired result (McLaughlin, 2017). So the merits of this methodology can be used with for below betterment of the system are: The sutomated system can be used to store an manage all the information related to thousands of stakeholders This methodology is the best option for this kind of changing conditions So Agile methodology option is the best approach to develop the desired system The primary required functions required to develop Allsports Sports Club System are: Unique registration ID is must for all users: so that the users who all are logging and for long they are logged in can be tracked, so that the exact work hours can be defined for the staffs to develop the publication. Verification of users: need to be done to prevent entry of any unwanted person in to the system and all the personal data shall remain intact. System must be accessible from all locations: so that members need not e to club physically for writing the articles and they can sit anywhere and write it, even after writing either they can upload in the system or e-mail to editor for further action. Proper functioning of the large database: is must to show desirable information. Window view wise access: is required to be provided depending on the person. The administrative access must be available with Club President to enable access to all folders. Generation of proper notification and follow-up system: is required for timely releasing of newsletter Always show pending tasks for the week: for developing the newsletter on time Highlight next week’s editor name from 1 week before itself: to help club president in municating with him well in advance Common format of newsletter: need to be maintained to save last minute run for the format arrangement The non-functional requirements for developing Allsports Sports Club System are: Secured enough: the system need to installed good quality firewalls to prevent from any probable attack and preserve the information related to users. Accessible from all devices: to provide flexibility to users and ease of developing the articles System must be well understandable: for proper optimum use of the software. As per (Wrike, 2017) the cost benefit analysis in the field of project management is a great tool which can provide information regarding the parison between the investment made Vs the benefits incurred due to the investment. In this technique, all the expenditures are calculated together and arranged in time phase manner, then similarly the profits or benefits are also calculated and tabulated (refer table 1). Then the difference between both the expenditures and the benefits can provide NPV (Net present value), IRR (Internal rate of Return), ROI (Return on Investment) and Pay-back period. The more NPV, IRR & ROI are positive and the less Pay-back period is good for the project and is advisable for investment. WBS or the Work Breakdown Structure is a hierarchical structure being developed to breakdown the total scope of work to a meaningful level which can be tracked and controlled easily and supervised (Gordon and McDonough, 2016). This tool is mainly useful for the senior management or the project sponsor to look at the progress of the project at a single sheet. So here the total scope of system development is divided in the project management processes, that is ‘Initiation’, ‘Planning’, ‘Execution’ and ‘Closing’. Then in next stage these levels are further divided in to work activity level. Now once the Gantt chart is developed, we can observe that there are merely 4 activities out of critical path, so the whole schedule is almost critical and all the activities need to be controlled properly to void any delay in the overall duration of the project. The total project duration is 3.5 months. The people who are anyways related to the project’s success or failure or can influence are known as the stakeholders of the project (Miller, 2017). Majorly the stakeholders can be sub divided in two parts; one is ‘Internal Stakeholders’ and the other ‘External Stakeholder’. The investigation techniques are required for proper tracking and confirming the process involved in the project life cycle are running well and the product shall be delivered well within time and budgeted cost. Audit of document and processes: this is the technique where the documents and the processes of projects are being checked thoroughly to find any lacunas; the audit is also scheduled at regular interval to check the system correctness and for further improvement too. This method is useful for the system development, as we are using Agile methodology and after some point of time Agile has a tendency to run out of budget if not checked at every step. Interview of individuals: it is the process of obtaining correct and unbiased information regarding the project progress or some issues. Here one to one interview is conducted with some pre- set questionnaires. It is useful for the system because the questionnaires are set by some expert in the same field and the collection of unbiased response can really help in finding any issue or the rrot cause. Discussion by organising a meeting: it is the organised official meeting being conducted between the subject experts to provide their point of view and then other can debate and after some pint of time the team of experts can reach to a mon and best consensus. It is very much useful if the participants have good exposure of the topic of discussion. The chosen methodology of the system development procedure is the real achievement of the report, as Agile can be the best fit for the type of project it is. Moreover, the investigation techniques are very strong so that each step can be verified well before providing further. Currently there is no constraint, but the budget can be constraints after some progress of the project, since Agile has a tendency to overshoot the budget due to continuous development and a clear budget cannot be finalised at very beginning of the project. It is to conclude that the schedule time and budget as o now seems to be achievable and the project is very much beneficial at this point. Gordon, Ann and Michele McDonough. 2016.
